Views of Educators about the Utilization of Virtual Reality in Special Education and Training

Abstract:
The technology of virtual reality has been applied in various sectors of education and training, with the possibility of its incorporation in study programs. The aim of this research is the exploration of the views of educators regarding the use of this technology in the teaching of special education students. The approach of quantitative research was followed, which included 100 PE70 educators and postgraduate students of the Department of Sports Organization and Management of the University of the Peloponnese and it has focused on the use of virtual reality, its potential utilization in special education and on the obstacles that restrict it. The results demonstrated the positive stance of the educators vis-à-vis its utilization, but obstacles were recognized as regards its practical application, which was detected as being restricted, with the educators expressing a desire for further education.
